The Pixel Helps Poundland launch its First Loyalty App

Driving Customer Engagement and Unifying Online and Offline Experiences

Poundland, the UK and Ireland’s top discount retailer, has launched its first-ever loyalty app, Poundland Perks, developed in collaboration with the team here at The Pixel. This strategic move enhances Poundland’s customer engagement by unifying online and offline experiences and offering a tailored, data-driven rewards program.

The Poundland Perks app provides customers with exclusive benefits, including over 100 tailored offers at any given time, perks points, and engaging gamification features such as the "Spin to Winsday" game, which rewards users with points and prizes each week. Once customers accumulate 5,000 points, they can convert them into digital vouchers for use in-store or online.

Creating a Unified Solution

We’ve been working with the business for over 2 years helping to deliver an ambitious digital transformation programme.  This piece of work is yet another demonstration of Poundland's mission to deepen customer engagement and unify online and offline channels. The Pixel developed a data-driven strategy that consolidated Poundland's customer information, providing a single, comprehensive view of shopper behaviour.

A Data-Driven Loyalty Program built on Adobe DX Suite

Utilising the Adobe DX Suite, The Pixel implemented a fully integrated solution that transformed Poundland’s approach to customer engagement. The Adobe Customer Data Platform (CDP) was employed to unify online and offline data, creating a holistic view of customer interactions. Additionally, Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) and Adobe Target were used to deliver personalised offers and content in real time, while Adobe Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) provided critical insights into engagement metrics such as repeat purchases and cross-channel behaviour. This allows for continuous optimisation of the app's performance, driving stronger customer retention and increased sales.

#1 position - Record success following Launch

The Poundland Perks app has seen immediate success, quickly becoming the #1 free app in the UK on both Apple and Google Play stores within 24 hours of its release. With over 500,000 sign-ups in the first few days, customers are already taking advantage of exclusive offers, perks points, and the interactive games. The app’s success is bolstered by Poundland’s £20 million investment in modernising in-store technology, including state-of-the-art tills and self-checkouts that fully integrate with the app by December 1, 2024.

Poundland’s Director of Digital, Tom Hill, stated, “Our new rewards app has been designed to make shopping even more fun and rewarding for our customers, whether they shop in-store or online. The app provides exceptional value, enabling customers to save, earn, and play while they shop.”
